NEUTERING
A surgical procedure called neutering or de-sexing stops your pet from being able to reproduce. It is known as "castration" for male pets and "spaying" for female pets. Our veterinarians conduct this procedure the most frequently, and your pet will typically be at home by the evening of the procedure.
Your pet can be desexed at any age, but between the ages of 4 and 6 months is the most typical time.
Castration
Your pet will need to be scheduled for the procedure at the veterinarian's office. We prefer the animal to arrive in the morning, since you will not have to feed or hydrate your pet for about 12 hours prior to the surgery. The vet makes a small incision in the animal and removes the testicles while the patient is completely asleep.
The process takes only a few minutes; when your animal has recovered and being carefully watched for a few hours, you will be asked to pick him up. The cone of shame and a few pills are typically given to pets as they return home.
When it's time for your pet to return for a checkup and to have the stitches taken out, we'll let you know.
Spaying
The rules remain the same. We will schedule your pet for the surgery, making sure she hasn't eaten in 12 hours. An ovario-hysterectomy, commonly known as the removal of the uterus and ovaries, will be performed while the patient is under general anesthesia. In order to monitor your animal, we will keep her inside for the day. When it is time for collection, we will call you. We will schedule your next appointment for a post-surgical checkup and send you home with some painkillers, antibiotics, and other supplies.
We work with a variety of species, and our operating rooms are well-equipped, sterile, and cutting-edge. We also have a deep love for animals, are always compassionate and loving, and will provide your pet with the best care possible before, during, and after surgery.
Your dog or cat may require surgery to neuter or spay them. Every month, we perform hundreds of these one-day procedures. Your pet arrives in the morning, is spayed or neutered, and then returns home in the late afternoon. Other surgeries could be more difficult and call for a few nights' stay. We will always keep you informed, let you know what to expect, and provide you advice on how to take care of your pet following surgery.
